The Roma stalwart is a man of the people

Following Giorgio Napolitano leaving his post in January for health reasons, Italy has begun the process of finding suitable candidates for his replacement.

Any Italian citizen can be nominated by politicians and, as Forza Italian Football explained, one of the surprise names that cropped up in the first wave of voting was none other than the man, the legend, Francesco Totti.

The Chamber of Deputies, the Senate and 58 regional representatives, totalling over 1,000 people, began the first of four rounds of voting on Thursday, and incredibly Roma captain Totti received five votes.

While the prospect of Totti being a major world leader may be something that would cause us endless enjoyment, it won’t be happening any time soon.

Unfortunately for the Serie A legend, you must have at least 50 years of living under your belt to hold the position, Ah well, he’ll just have to wait 12 more years and he’ll be a shoe-in.
