Wait, what?
There we all were, thinking Jamie Carragher’s playing career was long since done. Spending his days tormenting the Neville brothers and arguing with Graeme Souness while being paid as a Sky Sports pundit – he seemed quite content.
But then, out of absolutely nowhere, came this…
These words, coupled with the Chinese flag and bank note emojis, implied that Carragher was set to follow a number of European-based players by signing up to a lucrative contract with one of the Chinese Super League sides.
Being honest, we suspected something wasn’t quite right here and soon enough a further tweet from Carragherclarified what was actually going on.
Quoting the original tweet, Carragher explained that he wasn’t responsible for it, adding it was probably the work of a hacker. Despite this, he didn’t completely rule out the idea of a move to China and suggested he’d be happy enough to sign a big-money deal.
I didn't tweet this so it looks like I've been hacked! Tweet could've been a lot worse!! But if any Chinese club wants to give me 💷 💷💷👍 https://t.co/uJozsD2Daj

This comes just hours after Manchester United’s Ashley Young was linked with a move to Shandong Luneng. Young, who is now 31, has hardly featured for United under José Mourinho this season and has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs during the January window.
Time will tell if Young (and Carragher) end up plying their trade in China…
