As adept as he is at finding the back of the net, it’s a well known fact that Chelsea’s Diego Costa isn’t the best when it comes to speaking English.
Having moved to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid three years ago, footage of the Brazilian born-Spanish international attempting to speak the local lingo in London has been incredibly rare. Stuff like this is all we have to go at…

Still, that’s not to say that communicating in English is completely above the man. An example of this came midway through the second half of Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter final with Manchester United on Monday evening.
Seconds after narrowly avoiding a potentially career-ending injury when Marcos Rojo stepped on his big toe, Costa miraculously picked himself up from the floor. With the 28-year-old unhappy that such a dangerous challenge had gone unpunished by the officials, the camera fixed on his face as he demonstrated his ability to speak at least three English words.

For those of you that aren’t the best at lip reading, that was: “Fuck off mate. Fuck off.”
Plenty of viewers were delighted to see that the striker had expanded his English vocabulary.

'Fuck' and 'off' are the only words Costa knows in English.

Chelsea did enough to see off the ten men of Manchester United with N’Golo Kante’s second half goal enough to see them reach Wembley.
