Ten Hag seemed impressed by what he saw
Tyrell Malacia, a player who most of you didn’t even know existed a few days ago, looks set to become Manchester United’s first arrival of the summer transfer window.
The Dutch fullback came through the youth ranks at Feyenoord in his homeland, where he faced the Ajax team of soon-to-be-new-manager Erik ten Hag a few times.
And if footage doing the rounds on social media is anything to go by, Ten Hag has been an admirer of the 22-year-old for a good while.
Footage of Ten Hag watching Malacia surfaces online
Following the news that United have moved ahead of Lyon and into pole position for Malacia, their fans have been keen to see what he will bring to Old Trafford.
Some have stumbled across footage showing Ten Hag looking on in amazement at his performance while facing his Ajax team.
In the clip circulating on social media the 52-year-old can be seen turning to his assistant before saying to him: “That kid at left back is amazing. Take note of him.”

Lyon were initially the favourites to sign Malacia
It appeared on Tuesday as though Malacia would be heading to Lyon after the French club agreed a fee with Feyenoord.
United, however, quickly intervened, hi-jacking the deal at the eleventh hour.
Feyenoord’s sporting director said: “The agreement is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell [Malacia]. If he says yes, then a transfer to Man United is imminent.”
United also hope to land Malacia’s international teammate Frenkie de Jong, with an agreement with Barcelona thought to be close.
