Floyd Mayweather replies to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s boxing challenge

There's no way... Is there?

Conor McGregor might be the biggest name in combat sports but he’s now lost consecutive fights for the first time in his career.

Granted, the defeats came in different disciplines but ‘The Notorious’ will definitely be missing the feeling of having his hand raised.

McGregor was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in his return to the Octagon earlier this month, which was the Irishman’s first competitive outing since being stopped by Floyd Mayweather last summer.

And the two men who last defeated McGregor are now hinting at facing each other.

Nurmagomedov called Mayweather out over the weekend, with ‘The Eagle’ proudly boasting about dropping McGregor, something that Mayweather wasn’t able to do in their boxing bout last August.

“Hey let’s go Floyd, we have to fight now,” Nurmagomedov said.

“50-0 versus 27-0, two guys that never lose. Let’s go, why not. Because in the jungle only one king, only one king.

“Of course I am the king. Because he could not drop McGregor but I dropped him easily.”

Mayweather, who was coaxed out of retirement last year by the prospect of a massive payday against McGregor, has recently suggested that he is set to dust off the gloves yet again.

‘Money’ has offered former rival Manny Pacquiao a rematch but has hinted that he would like a tune-up fight before sharing the ring with the Filipino legend.

The offer is there from Nurmagomedov and it’s seemingly been accepted by Mayweather, who moved to 50-o with his win over McGregor.

The boxing great took to Instagram to respond to Nurmagomedov’s challenge.

“CBS, Showtime and MGM Grand get the checkbook out!” Mayweather wrote, before vowing to “make Las Vegas great again.”

Both Mayweather and Nurmagomedov are undefeated in their respective disciplines but the proposed bout, which would likely be targeted for Las Vegas, is miles off right now as Nurmagomedov would have to be licensed to box by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, whose bad books he is firmly in.
