Finally a reliable source confirms Liverpool’s key summer transfer targets

Kevin McGillicuddy

Hope springs eternal on the 1st of March.

Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp have been linked with, by our estimation, at least 175 players since last October, give or take a few.

Rumours from various social media accounts, and so called insiders, have suggested the club have been tracking any footballer who is able to kick fairly accurately with both feet ahead of another possible summer of heavy spending.

However, we may finally have an accurate source of information to firm up all that bullsh*t you read, as it appears that the club have identified three key players for their summer transfer bonanza.

And the information is coming from a very reliable source.

Mario Gotze tops the list and normally we would dispute any suggestion he was heading for the Premier League as total nonsense.

However, local Liverpool based journalist Tony Barrett has written in The Times that Gotze, Piotr Zielinski, the Udinese midfielder, and Leicester’s left-back Ben Chilwell, are all key summer transfer targets for Jurgen Klopp.

Barrett also writes that Christian Benteke is likely to be forced out of the club this summer, and has already rejected the chance to join the football money revolution in China.

It is also suggested that the League Cup may have been the last high-profile mistake Simon Mignolet will get to make for the club, as he is expected to be demoted to second-choice next season with Adam Bogdan allowed to leave the club.

Barrett’s summation of the summertime activity at Anfield means Liverpool fans can go on with a little more hope in their heart on the first day of spring.

And also actually believe the hype for once.

Similar stories today are also penned by other Liverpool based journalists Chris Bascombe and Paul Joyce, which would suggest there is truth to the rumours.
