Jerome Champagne is actually a real person despite his name sounding like something out of a F.Scott Fitzgerald book.
And he wants to be the next Fifa President when the organisation finally manages to rid itself of Sepp Blatter early next year.
The Frenchman is trying to gather support ahead of next year’s election, and already seems to be backed by one of the best footballers of all time.
He claimed earlier this year that Pele was backing him to become the next man to lead Fifa, and now his bid has been endorsed it seems by an Irish football legend.
According to reports today, Robbie Keane has been kind enough to support the former diplomat’s political sporting ambitions.
Jerome Champagne has published endorsement by Robbie Keane for his FIFA presidential campaign. Keane says: "He understands football."

"As captain of Ireland, I can say that the 'beautiful game' will be very safe in his hands. I wholly endorse Jerome for President of FIFA!"

It sounds suspiciously like something written by someone else.
But never mind – it naturally led to lots of these jokes.
@martynziegler always been Keane's dream to join Team Champagne
