One Fantasy Football wizard has set the bar incredibly high

When gambles pay off...

Luke Shaw had gone 133 games without finding the net as a professional footballer.

So it was an incredibly bold move by one Fantasy Football player to captain the Manchester United left-back for the first Premier League game of the season.

And if that was bold, it was downright audacious to use the Triple Captain option on Shaw for the clash with Leicester at Old Trafford.

Shaw scored his first ever senior goal on Friday night and it proved decisive for the Red Devils, who claimed a 2-1 victory in their season opener.

It also handed the above Fantasy Football wizard a massive head start as the full-back was the shock deliverer of 33 points.

Having been linked with a move away from United for months, Shaw has dedicated himself to an intense training regime over the summer and reports claim that his commitment resulted in the 23-year-old finishing top of the club’s early preseason fitness tests.

United manager Jose Mourinho was full of praise for Shaw in his post-match comments.

“The game was very complete, even if I forget the goal, of course an important goal for us, but the performance was very complete.” Mourinho said.

“I think one defensive mistake and probably the linesman could help him and give a free kick against Leicester but very, very complete performance.

“He just has to keep going, the mentality was very good, the tactical discipline was very good too and he had the power to move forward and score an important goal for us.”
