Well, that escalated quickly.
Conor McGregor still has much of the Irish MMA public eating out of his hand this afternoon, after dropping a career bombshell last night.
The Dubliner spread shrapnel all over the mobile devices of thousands of his Twitter followers when he teased he was quitting life inside the octagon.
It was subsequently confirmed that the 27-year would not appear at UFC 200 this summer to fight Nate Diaz, and it looks as though his career in UFC, at least for now, may well be over.
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

The Dubliner has kept quiet since, but the FAI have spotted an opportunity to troll the UFC featherweight by reminding him, and everybody, that every bridge, torched in the heat of anger, can be rebuilt.
Roy Keane, as you won’t need to be reminded quit the Irish football team after Saipan in 2002, after a massive row with then Irish boss Mick McCarthy
The now Ipswich manager left his position a few months later, and Keane returned to play under Brian Kerr.
A fact not lost on the clever boys and girls in Abbotstown this afternoon who have some advice for McGregor, and perhaps, Dana White.

Top work there lads.
And if McGregor’s bubble has burst, at least we can still believe in Jon Walters right.
Right?
