If you were like us and you got one of those emails last week from UEFA telling you that you had been denied a chance of getting to the Euros, then you’re still probably a little bit heartbroken.
But if you’re clever, and a die-hard Irish football fan, then you know there is a backdoor chance of getting some tickets, but the deadline to plead your case closes this week.
The FAI have confirmed this evening that fans who did not get tickets initially from UEFA can still apply for the Ticket Appeals Portal.
The system, set up for this year’s tournament, has 2,000 tickets held back by the FAI for the most deserving and worthy supporters who missed out on the initial ballot.
To get on the official waiting list for the last remaining tickets in possession of the FAI, you need to forward your notification email from UEFA to euro2016@fai.ie along with your FAI account number and details of the tickets that you applied for.
The closing date however to do all this is this coming Wednesday at 12am, so if you want to do your best Oliver Twist and beg for some mercy and golden tickets, then you better be quick.
Fans who attended the most games will be most likely to get the tickets, as the scheme is run on the same ranking system as the initial ballot.
Even if you lose out again here, you may still be able to pick up a ticket via the re-sale platform, which opens in March and will be run directly by UEFA.
However, with the closure of the ticket portal on Wednesday at midnight, it’s the first option to exhaust if you are still hoping to see ‘The Boys in Green’ this summer.
