There weren't many players on the books that had just been relegated with Sunderland, but that's about to change.
According to The Guardian, Fabio Borini is on the verge of joining Milan from Sunderland.
The 26-year-old Italian, who has scored seven goals in the last three seasons, is set to join the Serie A side on an initial one year loan, with the move to be made permanent next summer. The transfer will cost Milan £5.3m.
In Borini's previous spell in Serie A, with Roma in the 2011/2012 season, the 26-year-old scored nine goals in 24 games, which has been most productive spell in his career.
Sunderland fans will confirm that he certainly hasn't impressed in the Premier League, and he was one of many underperforming Black Cats' players who made no impact as they were relegated last season.
The move will mean that Borini has now played for Chelsea, Liverpool, Roma and AC Milan, which isn't a bad CV. If Borini can land a transfer to Milan after getting relegated with Sunderland, there's surely a job out there for David Moyes.
Social media was stirred by the forward's transfer, with the reaction verging between shock and finding the whole thing pretty funny.
