Some things in football go hand in hand, like Jack Wilshere and injuries, Abou Diaby and injuries, and Tomas Rosicky and…you get the picture.
London Colney’s finest is back on that familiar treatment table, with news breaking this morning that Wilshere is set for a week on the sidelines after his latest setback.
Update on Wilshere absence from friendly.
Had small problem with patella part of knee. Expected to be out for a week #AFC

Now, we’re no mugs (despite what you may have heard). We’ve heard this one before. One week doesn’t mean one week as far as Arsenal are concerned.
We remember when the England man was ruled out for ‘several weeks’ last August. Well sure, 36 weeks technically comes under the definition of ‘several’, but the point stands that we’ve been here before.
If our first instinct is to question a Wilshere injury prognosis, imagine how Arsenal fans must feel. They know one week rarely means one week, so the response to the latest update is as predictable as Wilshere picking up a knock in the first place.

i do not trust that injury update. He might be out for more than a month before you know it. Not reliable

May he rest in peace.

Who knows, maybe everyone’s wrong this time and Wilshere will be back on the pitch for the season opener against Liverpool on August 14.
At the very least he ought to be back in time to produce his biannual goal of the season contender after taking a break from the tradition in 2015/16.
