He clearly eats his crusts.
According to Biblical accounts, Samson was given immense strength via hirsute means to aid him against his enemies and allow him to perform glorious feats. Alas, once his hair was cut, his strength was gone. If you were thinking of checking out the Book of Joshua today, saved you a click. Also, belated spoiler alert.
Now far be it from us to suggest that Everton’s Ross Barkley is the modern-day Samson, but his current rich form and its correlation with him growing a magnificent head of hair does invite comparisons to the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites. Don’t pretend it’s only us thinking it.
Thus far we’ve only really seen the midfielder’s barnet neatly shorn and very short, but due to his mum asking him to grow it out, Barkley has duly obliged – with sensational results for both his head and feet. The 23-year-old is finally finding the kind of consistency of form his talents deserve.
As for his barnet, well the dense curly locks are mesmerising. His afro-in-progress should not come as a huge surprise due to his Nigerian heritage on his father’s side, but that hasn’t stopped his dark brown mound of hirsute excellence from gaining all sorts of attention. And yes – it is a slow news day…
Ross Barkley grew out his hair and is finally performing 🤔
