Everton’s defenders are actually better at scoring goals than Liverpool’s forwards

Coleman's more clinical than Borini

These goal-scoring statistics make for dismal reading for Liverpool fans.

The Anfield attack has come under fire for their sub-par performances in the league this season, which was exemplified by the Reds’ lacklustre 1-0 loss to Hull City at the weekend.

The Liverpool centre-forwards have only managed to find the net eight times this campaign. Daniel Sturridge leads the charge with four goals, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have two goals apiece while Fabio Borini is left straggling at the rear with a solitary goal.

Raheem Sterling, not being an out-and-out striker does not figure in this list.

Meanwhile, the defensive line of Everton have actually been more prolific in front of goal than their city rivals’ strikers. The Toffees’ starting back four have notched up nine goals this season with Seamus Coleman and Phil Jagielka bagging three goals each while Leighton Baines and John Stones both have two goals this season.

If this doesn’t serve as a wake up call for Rodgers to strengthen the strikeforce next season, we’re not sure what will.
