Martin O’Neill was made for Goals On Sunday.
Intelligent, experienced, witty and a fine raconteur.
After Saturday night’s roasting of Eamon Dunphy, the Republic of Ireland manager was in the Sky Sports studios on Sunday to sit down for a good natter and he didn’t disappoint.
He spoke openly and honestly about the decision to award his side a controversial penalty in their play-off clash with Bosnia.
Better still, he spoke openly and hilariously about James McClean.
McClean came in for some criticism after being sent off during West Brom’s defeat at the hands of Bournemouth and his fellow Derry man and international manager, Martin O’Neill, admitted that the player could be reckless.
So much so, he said, that they are still looking for an opposition player’s leg at the Aviva.
