Even Manuel Pellegrini is trying to get Pep Guardiola to join Manchester City instead of United

Is he mad?

Pellegrini has just taken classiness to a whole new level.

We expected a dignified response from the Chilean but not for him to bend over.

Speculation has been rife of Pep Guardiola coming to Manchester next season. Bayern confirmed this morning that Guardiola is set to leave Munich at the end of the current campaign, with Italian Carlo Ancelotti taking over at the German champions.

But, with Louis van Gaal coming in for serious abuse from the Old Trafford gallery and the Dutch man hotly tipped to become the next boss to leave his job, there seems to be a race on between United and City to land Pep Guardiola.

German TV station, ZDF, reported on Saturday that the Spaniard’s next job would be at the Etihad.

And current City boss, Manuel Pellegrini, has done nothing to discourage those reports. If anything, he’s just helped them.

The 2014 Premier League champion has been quoted in the Mirror saying that he hopes the Eastlands outfit can attract Guardiola.

“It is impossible not to want to work [in the Premier League], especially if you have experience of working in other leagues.

“I am sure that the important managers always want to work here in the Premier League,” Pellegrini said.

“So, Pep Guardiola will work here. I don’t know if it will be next season here at City, or even at another club, but I am sure that one day he will come to the Premier League.

“And I hope he will have the option to work at Manchester City.

“I say that because I love this club and I hope, in the future, he can work here also. I am sure that he will be very important for the club.

“A lot of things will happen in the future. But when is the future? You never know. It might be next year. But I don’t worry. The only thing I am worried about is this year.”

Classy as ever.
