Eva Carneiro isn’t backing down in her legal battle with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho

This could get ugly if no agreement if found.

Former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro’s legal case against the club and former manager Jose Mourinho has moved to the next stage today with her lawyers demanding a public apology from Mourinho.

Carneiro is claiming constructive dismissal by Chelsea over her departure from the club over the controversy that followed her decision to treat a player during a draw with Swansea on the opening day of the Premier League season, a decision which many believe set the tone for the reigning champions’ disastrous campaign and Mourinho’s sacking.

She is also taking a separate case against Mourinho, for victimisation and discrimination, and her barrister, Mary O’Rourke QC, told ITV News that: “We’re not expecting a resolution today. The two sides are so far apart financially. And we want Mr Mourinho to make a public apology.”

It is reported that Carneiro is also seeking “substantial damages”.

Should the sides not come to a settlement, the case will go before a public tribunal, a nightmare scenario for Chelsea and Mourinho, as the inner workings of the first-team squad and any dressing-room secrets they may have a liable to be laid out for public consumption.
