Where and how can I watch the Euro 2024 final between Spain and England?

The Euro 2024 final between Spain and England kicks off at 8 pm UK and Irish time (9 pm local time) at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

The 2015 Champions League final was played at the stadium when Barcelona beat Juventus 3-1. The Berlin venue also hosted the 2006 Fifa World Cup final when Italy beat France on penalties, (when Zinedine Zidane headbutted Marco Materazzi).

The Olympiastadion was purpose-built as the venue for the 1936 Olympics, which has been dubbed the ‘Nazi Olympics‘.

If you are not lucky enough to be at the venue for the game, you can watch it live on TV and stream it.

In the UK, BBC 1 and ITV 1 will both broadcast the Euro 2024 final live, with coverage beginning at 6:30 pm on both channels. You can also stream the final live on the BBC iPlayer and ITV X.

In Ireland, the match will be shown live on RTÉ 2, with coverage starting at 7 pm. You can also stream the final live on the RTÉ Player.

This is England’s second European Championship final in a row, after they lost to Italy on penalties at Wembley in 2021.

Spain are making their first appearance in a major final since Euro 2012, which they won 4-0 against Italy.

What is Spain’s form ahead of the final?

Spain come into the final having been the most impressive team at the tournament. Luis de la Fuente’s side have won all their games so far. They cruised through Group B – beating Croatia 3-0, Italy 1-0 and Albania 1-0.

In the knockout stages, Spain hammered Georgia 4-1 at the last-16 stage.

The 2010 world champions then beat hosts Germany in the quarter-finals, winning 2-1 after extra-time.

In the semi-finals, they went 1-0 down to France but recorded a stunning comeback to secure their place in Sunday’s showpiece final.

Spain have overcome all levels of opponents en route to the final in Berlin, and have dispatched two of the favourites for the tournament, as well as the holders.

They are as technically gifted, and tactically savvy, as the Spain teams that won Euro 2008 and Euro 2012.

However, they are now capable of playing direct and have two of the most exciting wingers in the tournament – Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, who turns 17 on the day before the final.

Dani Olmo also provides goals from midfield, while Rodri has been the best player in Germany over the last month.

Spain have been, by a distance, the best team at Euro 2024, but the best teams don’t always win finals.

What is England’s form ahead of the final?

The Three Lions played poorly in a weak group when they topped the table ahead of Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark with three unconvincing performances.

In the last-16, they were about to be knocked out by Slovakia until Jude Bellingham scored an overhead in the 96th minute, the team’s first shot on target in the match. Harry Kane then scored the winning goal in extra-time.

Gareth Southgate’s side improved against Switzerland in the quarter-finals, when they came from behind thanks to Bukayo Saka’s goal before going through on penalties.

In the semi-finals, England fell behind early to Xavi Simons’ goal for the Netherlands. Kane was then awarded a controversial penalty after a VAR review and dispatched his kick.

In the final minute of a match littered with contentious referee decisions, Ollie Watkins scored a winner to take England to Sunday’s final.

Spain are the better side, but England have an extremely talented squad, with several options from the bench to change the game if it isn’t going their way.

What are the odds for the final?

According to the bookmakers, Spain are slight favourites for the final.

Euro 2024 predicted line-ups.

Spain will be able to recall Dani Carvajal, who missed the semi-final win over France through suspension.

Olmo will likely retain his starting due to his excellent form, and Pedri’s injury ruling him out of the rest of the tournament.

Morata had an injury scare after the France victory but looks set to be involved.

Spain: Simón; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Ruiz, Rodri, Olmo; Yamal, Williams, Morata.

Gareth Southgate is likely to start the same team from the wins over Switzerland and the Netherlands, as England have a full squad of players to choose from.

Luke Shaw replacing Kieran Trippier at left-back is the most likely change. The Manchester United defender is a natural in the position and has appeared in England’s last two matches as a substitute after returning from injury.

England: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guéhi, Tripper; Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Bellingham, Foden; Kane.

Euro 2024 final: What have the managers said?

Luis de la Fuente, Spain manager:

“I know [my players] can give much more and be even better – and I’m pretty sure we will. Our idea of football is based on our self-belief. We want to play to our strengths. I’m sure the final will be totally different [from the semi-final], against opponents who will demand the best from us. Even though it might sound difficult, there is room for improvement.”

Gareth Southgate, England manager:

“To be able to take England to a first [major] final overseas, I’m immensely proud of that. Now we want to win against a Spain team that has been the best of the tournament. It’ll be hard. They press very well, so we will have to be exceptional with the ball and we will have to be exceptional without it. But it’s a final, you expect that.”
