‘Haaland should’ve won the gold medal for that dive.’
Erling Haaland has been slammed by football fans for his ‘shameless’ dive during Manchester City’s friendly against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
Haaland won the penalty in the last minute of the game at the Camp Nou, despite a clear lack of contact from defender Andreas Christensen, allowing Riyad Mahrez to convert from the spot and secure a 3-3 draw.
The Norwegian’s delayed reaction left people even more frustrated as he appeared to look back at the turf before falling to the floor.
How on earth was that a pen, Haaland should’ve won the gold medal for that dive https://t.co/2OS6w2FLnd

Man City and Barça were involved in the charity game to raise money for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) awareness in recognition of former Barcelona goalkeeper and coach Juan Carlos Unzue, who was diagnosed with the disease two years ago.
The game itself was a six-goal thriller as a sold-out Spotify Camp Nou was treated to an action-packed game. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring for the away side before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised for the hosts.
Midfielder Frenkie de Jong then put the hosts in front before academy graduate Cole Palmer equalised for City. Memphis Depay then restored Barça’s lead, but Haaland’s dramatic fall to the floor meant that Mahrez’s late penalty ensured a share of the spoils.
Both sides now turn their attention back to their league campaigns this weekend, with City at home to Crystal Palace while Barcelona welcome Real Valladolid to the Camp Nou.
