Ten Hag insists ‘there is a lot to do’
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has decided not to join his Ajax squad on their end of season trip to Curacao in order to start work at his new side early.
Ten Hag is technically not due to start for another six weeks but has chosen to begin life in the North West early as he believes “there is a lot to do.”
The Dutchman won’t be heading to Ajax’s celebrations in Curacao
The Dutchman took charge of his final game at the Eredivisie champions on Sunday as they ended their season with a 2-2 draw against Vitesse Arnhem.
While all the Ajax players and staff will be heading to the Caribbean island to begin their celebrations, Ten Hag has confirmed he will not be joining them.
“Tomorrow there will be a party with the [Ajax] staff, but I am not going to Curaçao [a Dutch Caribbean island],” he said.
“I think that’s understandable. There is a lot of work to do there [at Manchester United]. That is the case with every club.
“A number of things still need to be organised in the staff and also in the selection. We will be working intensively on this from tomorrow.
Ten Hag will start work from Monday
As per the Daily Express, the 52-year-old is expected to fly to Manchester and get to work at Old Trafford on Monday and as part of his plans, is expected to call his new squad in early for pre-season.
Among his many plans, Ten Hag is also expected to conduct a large overhaul of the first team squad as several stars are expected to leave.
The likes of Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata have already confirmed they will leave while others such as Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are likely to follow through the exit door.
