Ten Hag has identified three positions

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has identified three key positions he wants to improve in the summer transfer window.

Ten Hag is keen to bolster the squad even further and wants a striker, central defender and dynamic midfielder to come to Old Trafford, as revealed by The Mirror.

United made three signings in January – all of them temporary deals – as Wout Weghorst, Jack Butland and Marcel Sabitzer all joined the club.

As part of the continued rebuild, the Red Devils are also keen to offload six players which included Alex Telles and Eric Bailly – both of whom are out on loan – and Harry Maguire is also said to be one of those heading for the exit door.

Additionally, United are also willing to listen to offers for Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and academy product Scott McTominay.

In terms of who the club are looking to recruit, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is firmly on the radar, according to multiple reports, but will not come cheaply.

The club also want a new centre back. With Maguire and Raphael Varane turning 30 and Victor Lindelof the subject of interest from Inter Milan, they want a younger option, similarly to the reason behind the decision to sign Lisandro Martinez.

A dynamic midfielder will also not come cheaply. Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham have been linked with moves to Old Trafford however the latter is likely to be Liverpool’s number one target in the summer.

United moved above Newcastle to go third in the Premier League after they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 despite being reduced to 10 men after Casemiro’s controversial red card.
