Emmanuel Adebayor had a rather odd reason for not leaving Tottenham Hotspur

In order to leave Tottenham Hotspur, Emmanuel Adebayor literally needs divine inspiration.

At one stage it looked like Adebayor signing for Aston Villa was all but done.

However, after completing a medical and posing for pictures with the club’s jersey, he began dragging his feet on finalising the deal. According to the Telegraph, the Togo native made the outrageous claim that he needed a sign from God that it would be the correct move.

Adebayor is then understood to have then consulted his pastor over the possibility of joining the Villains before finally opting out of the switch.

West Ham made an offer for Adebayor on loan last week, but the club was left befuddled when he did not turn up for a scheduled medical before requesting more time to mull over the switch.

By the time Adebayor finally agreed to meet with Hammers boss Slaven Bilic on Monday, they were already dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on their second Premier League loan in the form of Victor Moses from Chelsea.

God only knows what happened there.
