In today’s Daily Mail, Emile Heskey, a free agent since he left Newcastle Jets in Australia, has said he’d love to play for Leicester City again. The 36-year-old began his career there before moving to Liverpool in 2000. From there he had spells at Birmingham, Wigan and Villa before a two-year spell in Australia ended earlier this year.

But with Leicester struggling for goals, just 11 in 12 league games this season, and with space in the squad, Heskey would love a shot to tog out for the Foxes again.

‘It goes without saying, I’d love to come,’ Heskey told BBC Radio Leicester. ‘It is a great club that allowed me to get to the platform that I got to.

‘They have got a decent squad there, they just need that little pick me up, a little confidence,’ he added. ‘It could be anything, just a spark to get going on a run to get out of it.’

Please God, Heskey will be that spark and he can add to his Premier League tally of 110, 19th on the all-time list
