RTE football pundit Eamon Dunphy has cited Neymar’s apparent partying with supermodels in Ibiza for PSG’s lack of success this season.
The Ligue 1 leaders crashed out of the Champions League last week after a 5-2 aggregate loss to Real Madrid.
The reigning champions advanced to the tournament’s quarter-finals stages after they secured a 2-1 win in the second leg in Paris, a match Neymar missed after breaking his foot in a previous win over Marseille.
Dunphy cited the Brazilian internationals partying for the club’s lack of success in Europe’s premier competition.
“He gets a private jet and he goes to Ibiza to have a night out with some supermodels,” said Dunphy on RTE’s post-match coverage of Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Barcelona.
“That is not conducive to getting results and he wants to leave PSG now to go back to Real Madrid.
“All of these things feed in. To go back to [Antonio] Conte… he was a real pro. He was a grafter, he managed Juventus very successfully and he’s old school. He wouldn’t want that kind of nonsense and he wouldn’t put up with it.”
PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi visited the 26-year-old at his luxury home in Brazil earlier this week as the player recovers from surgery ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
“He’s very excited to come back as soon as possible,” al-Khelaifi told reporters. “I’m sure he will come back very soon and you know very excited to have him back in the league, in the Cup matches with Paris Saint-Germain.”
