Move over Meshuggah, we’ve found a better breakdown.
Trips abroad can be some of the most stressful experiences people in the western world without many real problems (war, famine etc) can go through.
Before bravely making their way to the airport, a lot of people will ensure that they’ve checked everything off their list three or four times like some sort of anxious Santa Clause. This measure is undertaken to combat the overwhelming sense of inevitability that something will go horribly wrong.
All the essentials will be packed – passport, boarding pass, plane ticket, jersey, giant inflatable tri-colour hammer etc – but Murphy’s Law seems destined to prevail again.
Such was the case for a group of Dundalk supporters who were heading to the Netherlands for their side’s Europa League opener against Az Alkmaar tomorrow night. It looked like disaster had struck for the Lilywhites supporters as their minibus broke down on the motorway on the way to the airport. However, Lady Luck showed up in the nick of time.
Just when it looked like their trip had hit a snag, the Dundalk team bus pulled up and out stepped manager Stephen Kenny. Fine Gael councillor from the ‘Wee County’, John McGahon, shared a Whatsapp message detailing how the manager had just three words for the stranded fans at the side of the road.
“Hop on lads.”
What a hero.
