Everton midfielder Doucoure lucky to escape caution after Fred swipe

He’s a lucky boy…

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure appeared to throw a punch at Manchester United man Fred during Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford.

Tempers threatened to boil over as half-time approached when United’s Scott McTominay attempted to pick up Lucas Digne after the full-back dropped to the floor with what appeared to be an injury.

After a short period of pushing and shoving, the scenes on the pitch began to cool down and play was able to resume.

However, whilst it appeared that the incident had been blown completely out of proportion, it was later noticed by some that Blues midfielder Doucoure appeared to lash out at the Brazil international.

Despite a VAR check, it was deemed that nothing that had occurred was worthy of a card, but it remains to be seen whether or not the 28-year-old will face later punishment for his actions.

United were able to take the lead shortly after, Anthony Martial ending his long wait for a goal to send United in a goal up at half-time.
