Classic Diego, classic Jose.
If Liverpool thought they had striking problems, Jose Mourinho has a Diego Costa.
Okay, so it’s not Sturridge, Benteke and Ings proportions and, fine, they have Falcao and Remy to step right in, but a Chelsea without Costa is a Chelsea without much hope – especially this Chelsea.
The Blues’ front man was hospitalised on Tuesday evening after going down with a rib injury in their Capital One Cup loss to Stoke and the manager confirmed he wasn’t sure of the full extent of the damage.
Chelsea host Liverpool on Saturday for the lunch time kick off and, having suffered seven defeats already this season, the loss of Costa is obviously not a welcome one.
Mourinho tried his best to let the worries run off him though, looking at all that he has going on in his life.
“I have a day off tomorrow, a fantastic family, I can sleep well every night.”
Asked about Costa though, he was less philosophical. And he had another dig at the media storm around him.
Mourinho on Costa: "He is in the hospital. I don't know." Says it was his ribs: "I think he punched himself."
