He could well end up there in a couple of years

David Silva will be 35 by the time his Manchester City contract expires and it sounds like he’s already decided where he wants to see his career out.

Silva has been at City since 2010 and claims his decision to move to the Etihad in the early stages of Sheikh Mansour’s time at the helm was “one of the best decisions” of his life.

The playmaker, who is already considered one of the best foreign players to have featured in the Premier League, was the subject of interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona at the time but doesn’t regret picking City.

Silva’s faith has been rewarded with three league titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups.

The Spanish midfielder admits that he has one club that he still wants to play for before he hangs up his boots and he could well head there when his final City contract comes to an end.

“For City, two more seasons – what’s left on my contract. After that, I don’t know. It depends how I feel physically and mentally,” Silva said in an interview for the Premier League Show.

“I’ve always said that I’d like to play for Las Palmas – my local team. But we’ll see how things go in two years and take it all from there.”

Silva would likely have to take a significant pay cut to join the Spanish club was which was relegated to the second tier last term.

He will be remembered fondly by even rival supporters for his performances in England when he does decide to leave and he has revealed that he never thought twice after City made their interest known eight years ago.

“City wanted me,” Silva recalls.

“They had been calling me since December, asking me to come and play for them.

“I thought, ‘who wants me? City want me, so that’s where I’ll go’.

“Back then I was living with my parents and they were getting divorced and it was the right time to get away from there, from Spain, and live a new experience. It turns out I made the right move.”
