David Moyes may have gone a little bit OTT about Phil Neville’s management future

Nothing can keep Phil Neville and David Moyes apart.

Moyes takes over at Goodison Park, Neville signs for Everton. Moyes takes the hot seat at Old Trafford, Neville becomes Manchester United first team coach. Moyes moves to Spain to manage Real Sociedad, Neville quickly books his flight to become assistant manager of Valencia.

And Moyesy clearly rates his former captain to the level that the Scot believes Neville is capable of taking charge of the England national team.

“Phil Neville could be on the road to one day, maybe, becoming the England manager,” Moyes told The Telegraph.

“I know him closely. He was a great captain, a great leader. He’s had great experience. After he finished playing he came back to United then he chose to take a year out and had a chance to see how the media works – which is important – and he’s clever, enthusiastic and a good coach.”

Far be it for us to say that Neville wouldn’t make a good England manager because, to be fair, they’ve had a fair few stinkers over the years but we can’t quite see this happening any time soon.

Imagine Phil in the hot seat and Gary having to answer to him as one of his coaches. For that reason alone, we kind of want this to happen.
