David Moyes has had a right ol’ pop at the Premier League

Shots fired!

David Moyes is like a scorned ex, swearing that he “never fancied you anyway,” when you tell him that it’s over.

The former Manchester United manager, who is currently living it up at 12th place in La Liga, has taken a swipe at the Premier League’s quality.

Real Sociedad de Futbol v FC Barcelona - La Liga

Speaking to BT Sport, Moyes said: “It’s as poor a Premier League as I’ve seen for… maybe since the start of the Premier League.”

“When you think of the great players who have graced the Premier League and the teams… I look at this year, and I look back, and I say ‘Well I don’t see that’.

“I see good teams, very good teams, and some great players, but I just don’t see the competition the way it was in years gone by.”

Manchester United v Aston Villa - Premier League

Moyes, who accepted a job as Real Sociedad manager after being sacked by Manchester United after just 10 months in charge at Old Trafford, has claimed that he doesn’t exactly miss English football but is positive that he’ll eventually return to the league where he cut his teeth as Everton manager.

“I’m not missing the Premier League just now, for reasons I’ve said,” he added. “I’ve actually come and I’ve seen something else, I’ve seen another league.

“I’m enjoying going to different stadiums, working with different players, trying to learn the language and the culture.

“I couldn’t turn round and say I’m missing the Premier League at the moment, no. But obviously, it’s where I’ve done most of my work and in time I’ve got no doubt I’ll go back there.”
