See you next summer.
Real Madrid will not appeal the failed transfer for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Spanish club will not seek to force through the €40m (including Keylor Navas) deal, according to Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague.
That suggestion was then backed up by this tweet from UEFA’s official Champions League account [below], which was then deleted.

For anyone coming late to this, the deal hit the skids in the early hours of this morning when all of the transfer documentation failed to go through to the LFP [La Liga’s governing body] on time.
It means, if Louis van Gaal brings him in from the cold, that de Gea’s next game will now be against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
De Gea had expected to be facing Espanyol on the same day [September 12] but the documentation botch should see him remain in Manchester for another four months.
Last time out against Liverpool, de Gea pulled off one of the Premier League’s saves of the season – stopping a goal-bound Mario Balotelli shot.
Finally, this tweet from July all makes sense…
