The ‘David de Gea to Real Madrid’ speculation has all the ingredients to become a ‘transfer saga’.
The Manchester United goalkeeper has developed into one of the best in the world, Madrid need a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas, De Gea is from the city and now his girlfriend has revealed her disdain for Manchester.
Edurne Garcia might not be too popular among the natives in the city, after describing it as ‘uglier than the back of a fridge’.
‘It’s not very nice, that’s for sure,’ the Spanish singer said on a chatshow on Wednesday. ‘You have to hunt out specific places, the nicer places. But even then Spain is nicer. The reason I like it is because David’s there. With him being there, everything looks wonderful’.
It rains, on average, 140 days per year in Manchester, so it’s no surprise she’d rather the pair spent their time in sunny Madrid.
But are Garcia’s comments harsh? Is Manchester really ‘uglier than the back of the fridge’?
Well, according to this poll on The Mirror website, yes. Yes it is.
