We now know David De Gea will be a Manchester United player until January at least, but it seems he might stick around for a lot longer.
The Spanish number one saw his move to Real Madrid collapse in acrimonious circumstances, but may stun the footballing world and sign a new contract with United.
According to Marca, discussions remain open between United and the player who manager Louis van Gaal recently described as the best at the club, and the goalkeeper is yet to rule out an extension to his current deal.
So, somehow, De Gea is returning to Manchester. Euros next year so he’ll want to be playing – United could force a new contract upon him.

De Gea is out of contract next summer, and would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with the Spanish club in January before leaving Old Trafford for free.
In the meantime he will surely hope to regain his starting place for United in order to put himself in contention for Spain’s number one jersey at Euro 2016.
