The Spanish goalkeeper leaves the club after 12 years.
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has announced his departure from the club in a heartfelt message to fans on social media.
The 32-year-old has been locked in contract renewal negotiations for a prolonged period with United, however the pair have been unable to come an agreement on an extension.
The news follows reports this week that the Red Devils had reneged on an agreement in principle which had been reached with De Gea.
Under boss Erik ten Hag, De Gea had been a mainstay, but he failed to find consistency in form throughout the Dutchman’s first season in charge, making a number of high-profile errors.
This inconsistent form has led to United entering talks for Inter Milan’s Cameroonian keeper Andre Onana, who looks set to become ten Hag’s number one next season should the Red Devils meet the Italian’s asking price.
