David De Gea breaks his silence following serious allegations in the Spanish press

"It's a lie"

David De Gea insists that the accusations made against him on Friday afternoon are totally false.

The Spanish goalkeeper was the subject of a report in Spanish outlet El Diario that claimed a court had been told that he, and former U21 teammate Iker Muniain, had been implicated in a case of sexual assault.

Rumours circulated that he had been sent home from Spain’s Euro 2016 base but those suggestions proved false and De Gea met the media later on Friday, following a press conference in Ile de Re.

“The first person who was surprised by this news story was me. It’s a lie,” said De Gea, via AS.com, adding “I want to deny it. It’s a lie and it’s false. Nothing more.”

“I never thought about leaving. It gives me more strength to train even harder,” he said.
