In fairness, David Beckham is a shoe-in to be knighted.
And now it’s going to happen, on-screen at least. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder has landed a part in Guy Ritchie’s new film Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.
The film, which has yet to start shooting, will also star Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Eric Bana and Poppy Delevingn. Beckham’s involvement in the film has occurred due to his friendship with British director Ritchie.
According to the Sun, ‘There’s going to be a version of the scene where Excalibur gets drawn from the stone. This is where Beckham factors in. There’s a little bit of a sense that David’s character, who fancies himself as a big player in this story, gets a little ticked off when this other fellow, this upstart, is the one who can free the sword.’
This won’t be the first time Beckham has featured in a film. The 40 year old had a part in GOAL! back in 2005, and the film’s sequel, ingeniously titled GOAL II.
