Danny Welbeck does watching Jack Wilshere no favours after Arsenal scored against Bournemouth

Not what he needed...

Simon Lloyd

Jack Wilshere, as has so often been the case over recent years, found himself watching an Arsenal game from the Emirates stands on Sunday afternoon.

This time however, it wasn’t some form of niggling ankle injury preventing him from taking to the field, but rather the fact that he’s spending the season on loan at Bournemouth, Arsenal’s opponents for the afternoon.

Wilshere was spotted sitting next to Danny Welbeck, who remains sidelined by a knee injury he picked up away at Manchester City at the end of last season.

Although nobody’s under any illusions that Wilshere is using his year-long loan on the south coast as anything other than an opportunity to resurrect his Arsenal career, the England international will have been well aware that being seen to celebrate a goal for either side probably wouldn’t have gone down well.

So, when Alexis Sanchez gave the home side the lead, Wilshere, with the peak of his baseball cap pulled down over his face, kept his head down.

Welbeck, knowing full well what a predicament his teammate was in, didn’t help matters, as the video below shows quite clearly…

Poor Jack.
