Daniel Sturridge could miss the first three months of next season

Another set-back

Sturridge started only seven league games in 2014/15.

The English striker’s injury woes look set to bleed well into next season, meaning Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers must target at least two strikers over the summer.

Sturridge underwent surgery on his injured hip, on Monday. The strengthening and recovery process is expected to take up to four months, meaning it may be October by the time he returns for the Reds. Other news outlets are reporting a November return.

Bryan Kelly, the orthopaedic surgeon that carried out the procedure, is hopeful that the hip repairs can, in future, prevent the thigh, calf and, of course, hip problems that have plagued Sturridge.

Rodgers has already stated that Liverpool need a top class striker that can play ‘week in, week out’. Divock Origi will arrive from Lille, over the summer, and the club is being linked with Danny Ings [Burnley] and Christian Benteke [Aston Villa].

Sturridge was one of Liverpool’s key players, in 2013/14, as they pressed for a league title but this season has ben one to forget. He has only made seven Premier League starts, scoring four goals.

Still, the England international is a glass half full type of guy.

Follow Sturridge on Instagram and this is what to expect – re-hab, grateful words, pictures of goal celebrations, injury updates, re-hab, dressing room banter, fashion photo-shoots, re-hab, nights out and re-hab.

The Liverpool striker made a post from New York, last night. It was a video that is fans will welcome while getting the red marker out and circling his next return to play date. The latest post, complete with mumbling voice-over from the cameraman, shows the 25-year-old is already on the road to recovery, on a stationary bike.

This is something quite poignant about that.
