Daniel Sturridge has expressed his frustrations after watching his Liverpool team-mates crash out of the Champions League last night.
The England striker played an integral part in Liverpool’s return to Europe’s elite, netting 21 times in 26 Premier League games, but has played just three times for the club this season, missing all of the Reds’ Champions League ties as they scored just five times in six games.
Last night’s 1-1 draw at home to Basel relegated the club to the Europa League, and Sturridge tweeted about his ‘devastation’.
We fought hard man. Sat here devastated wishing I could have helped. We’ll come back stronger from this and i’m working hard to do the same.

Sturridge is currently in Los Angeles rehabbing his latest thigh injury, and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard acknowledged how important it is for Liverpool to get the 25-year-old back on the field and firing.
‘You always qualify over the six games and unfortunately we haven’t been good enough,’ Gerrard said.
‘We need to get our main striker [Sturridge] back who’s capable of getting us the goals to get us back in the top four. and get some more goals in the side. We need to get Mario Balotelli back firing as well. If can get goals in the team then it gives us a chance.’
