Money in the bank but the Danish defender will never get his dog back.
When Daniel Agger’s dog, Charlie, was left into Dapper Dogs for a grooming session, in late 2014, the last thing the footballer expected was a phone call informing him of a tragic passing.
The dog was left inside a hair-drying unit for too long and suffered from heat-stroke. One of the dog groomer’s lay the distressed dog out and covered him up with wet towels but he passed away the following day.
The Mirror has reported on the tragic loss suffered by the former Liverpool player and his family, who were understandably fond of the six-year-old pooch.
The most heart-rending comment from this week’s court case, which found in Agger’s favour, came from the defendant:
‘Most dogs scratch at the door in the dryer, so I didn’t think anything of it.’
The magistrate ordered the company’s owner to pay Agger £250 and cover court and vet costs. All told, £2,700 [€4,000] must be paid over.
