Duffer’s coming home!
Damien Duff has confirmed that he will be returning home this summer with the intention of playing in the Airtricity League.
The 36-year-old, who played a starring role in Ireland’s 2002 World Cup campaign, is currently in Australia with A-league side Melbourne City. However, his time with the club has been hampered with injury.
Although the Aussie’s want him to stay, Duff told RTE’s Soccer Republic on Monday night that he fully plans on coming back to Ireland to find an Airtricity League side to sign for.
People are probably sick of me saying that but I’ll be home at the end of April, early May and I’ll be looking for a job. Home is the next port of call.
Duff is set to become the latest Irish player with international caps to join the Airtricity League. The notable ex-Irish internationals who are currently plying their trade in the Irish top-flight include Liam Miller and Colin Healy who tog out for Cork City while Keith Fahey and Stephen McPhail are at Shamrock Rovers.
