When Pepe was asked to name his toughest opponent ever, he clearly misheard the question as “who’s the biggest c**t you’ve ever come across?”
The Real Madrid centre-half has been a sporadic part of Zinedine Zidane’s side this season and the fact that he’s behind Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in the pecking order could be down to the fact that he’s often liable to be sent off.
Pepe loves nothing more than getting involved in a scuffle, unless the referee is watching in which case he’ll throw himself to the ground in the hope of getting a red card flashed at his opponent.
To sum up, Pepe’s a right bastard to play against.
But he’s not the only bullish player in the world and the Portugal international has revealed who he found most difficult to play against.
“Without doubt Diego Costa,” Pepe told Sky Sports. “He’s a striker who really battles and loves getting stuck in.
“I don’t like to lose a 50/50, in the same way a striker doesn’t like missing chances.”
