“Messi! Messi! Messi!”
Real Madrid are currently in Abu Dhabi defending their Fifa Club World Cup title. The Champions League holders took on Al-Jazira on Wednesday and dominated possession, but only managed to record a 2-1 win in the competition’s semi-final. Brazilian forward Romarinho gave the Abu Dhabi side the lead, before Cristiano Ronaldo equalised and Gareth Bale got the winner in the second half.
Zinedine Zidane’s team are now into Saturday’s final, where they will face South American champions Gremio.
Madrid are on course to win their seventh trophy under Zidane, and become the first team to retain the Club World Cup. However, for a brief moment on Wednesday night, Ronaldo wasn’t pleased. The Portuguese forward won his fifth Ballon d’Or last week, and announced to the world that he is the best footballer in history, but a silly chant by supporters in Abu Dhabi managed to get under his skin.
Some supporters could be heard chanting:
“Messi! Messi! Messi!”
And this didn’t go down well with Ronaldo.
The former Manchester United forward may consider himself to be the greatest footballer of all-time, but any mention of Lionel Messi appears to really annoy him.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Ronaldo has been angered by chants about Messi. When Portugal beat Denmark 3-2 at Euro 2012, some fans at the match in Ukraine chanted about the Barcelona genius. Ronaldo didn’t like this and hit back at his rival, saying:
“You know where he was at this time [last year]? Do you know? He was being eliminated in the Copa America, in his own country. I think that’s worse, no?”
Never change, Ronaldo.
