Gerardo Alberto Bedoya Múnera is not getting mellower with age.
The 40-year-old Colombian holds the inauspicious record of most red cards during his career – he was sent off a grand total of 46 times.
Bedoya, who was capped 49 times by his country, was almost banned for as many games as he played in his 21 seasons as a footballer.
In recent weeks, the former midfield enforcer has swapped his boots and shorts for a tracksuit and a pair of comfy runners. He is now assistant coach to Alex Garcia at Independiente Sante Fe but is still as angry as hell.
After his team hit the front, they were pegged back by a Vladimir Hernandez goal that looked borderline offside.
Bedoya was not having it and berated the linesman. He received a warning for this, after 13 minutes, but soon went back for a second helping.
So, 21 minutes into his career as an assistant coach, Bedoya was sent from the sidelines and had to watch the rest of the game from the stands.
Make that 47 sending offs in his career.
For those who care, Sante Fe went on to win 3-2.
