The Bosnian’s aren’t worried about us one little bit.
Well not according to one of their defenders who’s being quoted on a Bosnian website this afternoon very much unperturbed at the challenge that is going to be posed by Ireland in next month’s play-off for Euro 2016.
Martin O’Neill’s side didn’t get the easiest draw we could have hoped for by drawing the Bosnians after they finished third behind Wales and Belgium.
Martin O’Neill admitted after the draw that his side will be ‘giving it a go’ over the two legs next month, but Ognjen Vranjes, quoted by www.sportsport.ba website, thinks his side have been very fortunate to draw the Boys in Green
“We were unlucky? I don’t think so, it was the Republic of Ireland who were unlucky in the draw.”
“The Irish came the worst off among the unseeded teams because they are up against the most difficult opposition they could have asked for.”
“We showed in our last two group stage qualifiers that we are capable of beating anyone and I don’t see why we can’t beat Ireland.”
Ireland did beat Germany in our last home game at the Aviva but slumped to Poland in last Sunday’s crucial final group game. Vranjes has no fears over facing another Celtic nation after booking their place in the play-offs with a 2-0 win over Wales
“I am not trying to underestimate Ireland but I think Wales have better players than them.”
“Any win in the first leg in Zenica would put us in the driving seat and if Ireland have to come at us in the return leg, we will have plenty of room to hit them on the break.”
If there is someway to pin a web article on a dressing room wall we suggest that Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane get on it right away.
