SportsJOE

Coca-Cola have announced a new partnership for Sport Against Racism Ireland with the drinks company contributing €35,000 to a number of projects over the course of the next year.

Irish football fans can win tickets to a Premier League match of their choice by entering a unique code from promotional packs of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Oasis, Fanta, Sprite, Lilt or Dr Pepper by logging on to https://register.coca-cola.com/ie/football.

On entering their code, consumers will have the opportunity to choose from one of five SARI projects:

    • SARI Soccernites and Young Leaders Programme (ROI)
Free weekly football training sessions for boys and girls aged 14-18 taking place in the north inner city.
    • Soccerfest (ROI)
The largest intercultural soccer tournament in Ireland, which has developed into a celebration of cultural diversity, social inclusion and global development.
    • Living Together Through Football (NI)
Designed to counteract the high levels of high school dropouts across Northern Ireland.
    • SARI Hijab and Hat-Tricks Project (ROI)
    • Workshops designed to promote equality in sport in secondary schools.

Commenting on the launch of the partnership, SARI director and former Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr said:

“Knowing the impact that sport can have, we’re thrilled to have the backing and support of Coca-Cola Ireland in their capacity as sponsor of the Premier League,” he said.

“This funding goes a long way in our initiatives and helps encourage and promote a positive environment in our communities.”

“With the theme of ‘Where Everyone Plays’ for our Premier League campaign we can think of no better partner than Sport Against Racism Ireland,” added Ronan Farren Director of Public Affairs and Communications for Coca-Cola Ireland.

“We have had a long-standing relationship with SARI over many years and their work in bringing young people, communities, and people from different backgrounds together through sport is something that Coca-Cola is delighted to support.”

SARI’s mission is to promote and support cultural integration, social inclusion and cohesion in the Irish Republic, Northern Ireland and abroad by using sport as a medium to combat racism, sectarianism, xenophobia, homophobia and all other forms of discrimination.
