Christian Benteke’s Twitter page claimed he’d signed for Burnley instead of Crystal Palace

Oops!

Christian Benteke is a Crystal Palace player. Got that, Christian? CRYSTAL PALACE.

After a disappointing year at Liverpool, the Belgian striker’s move to Selhurst Park was confirmed on Saturday morning. The 25-year-old signed a four year deal with Palace and cost Alan Pardew’s side £27m.

With Palace forking out such a big fee for him (a club record), Benteke clearly has lot to prove to the supporters of his new club… And what better way to ingratiate yourself with them than to confuse your new team with a *completely different club*?

As much as we’d love to believe that the image below was doctored, it definitely, definitely wasn’t. Within minutes of Benteke’s Palace move being confirmed, the striker’s Twitter bio suggested he’d just moved to newly-promoted Burnley.

Benteke (or whoever’s responsible for running his Twitter page) swiftly changed the mistake, but, unfortunately for him, it was not before we – and plenty of others – had noticed it.

How embarrassing, eh? Poor Christian.

Benteke moves to Burnley  Crystal Palace thirteen months after leaving Aston Villa for £32.5m. Signed by Brendan Rodgers, he found himself out of favour at Anfield when the Northern Irishman was replaced by Jurgen Klopp last October.
