Chris Sutton had to mention Rangers in his congratulatory message to Celtic

He might have a point, though...

Celtic are champions of Scotland, for the sixth time on the spin.

Their 5-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle was enough to seal the title, putting them an unsurmountable 25 points clear at the top of the league with eight games still to play.

The fact that Old Firm rivals Rangers are back in the Scottish top flight this season has made the victory extra special, and when tweeting his congratulations to Brendan Rodgers and his team, former Celtic player Chris Sutton couldn’t help but make reference to the Ibrox club.

‘Unless King spends 10 in a row is on,’ Sutton warned.

Rangers currently sit in third, 35 point behind their great rivals who have completely dominated during Brendan Rodgers’ first season at the club.

Dave King, Rangers’ chairman, recently said that despite Celtic’s straightforward league success this season, he remained confident that his team can overtake them in the near future.

“While to some extent it is disappointing what has happened this season, we are certainly not letting the pressure of that change the long-term ambition, which is to get close and overtake Celtic within the reasonably foreseeable future and get back to being number one in Scotland,” he said.
