Chelsea are set to receive a £4m pay day if one of their forgotten players doesn’t start this weekend.
The Blues have a lot of players. A lot, and also have many who have departed permanently or gone out on loan.
One of those to leave in January was Armando Broja, who joined Fulham on loan.
At the time Chelsea fans questioned the decision to allow the forward to leave given the lack of options – leaving Nicolas Jackson as their only recognised front man.
Although the Albanian moved in the hope of more regular game time it hasn’t worked out with Broja playing just 51 minutes for Marco Silva’s side as the form of Rodrigo Muniz continue to keep him out of the team.
And according to The Daily Mail, Chelsea reached an agreement with their west London neighbours that meant Fulham wouldn’t have to pay a loan fee due to the importance of their forward needing game time.
But, a rule in the contract states that if Broja doesn’t start in at least 60 per cent of Fulham’s matches, they will be required to pay the Blues a £4m fee.
That means that if the 22-year-old doesn’t start against Spurs this weekend then Chelsea will be given the fee.
