Jose Mourinho is facing an FA probe for an incident that took place against Swansea between him and the club doctor.

The Chelsea manager was involved in a furious spat with the club’s medical team during the first game of the season at Stamford Bridge and Mourinho is now subject of a complaint received by the Football Association that the Portuguese boss used abusive, sexist language towards Eva Carneiro.

It is believed that the Blues manager could face up to a five-game touchline ban if he is found guilty of improper conduct.

According to the Independent, the governing body’s compliance department are studying video evidence that Mourinho abused Carneiro either from the touchline or as she came back down to the bench during that game against Swansea after the medical team had treated Eden Hazard late in the drawn game.

Carneiro had since been demoted from match-day duties but is reported to have been absent from the club’s training ground as well.

In a statement, the FA responded to a complaint made by a member of the public:

‘The FA has received an enquiry relating to an alleged incident during the Premier League fixture between Swansea v Chelsea on 8 August, and will make no further comment at this time.’

Players and coaches can be penalised for using “offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures”. But, with an aggravated breach, in this case potentially with reference to gender, Mourinho could be looking at a minimum five-game touchline ban as punishment. If he is found to be guilty.
